A highly qualified nephrologist with more than 20 years of clinical experience. She holds a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree from Rīga Stradiņš University. Dr Ieva Ziediņa specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases, renal replacement therapy, and transplant nephrology.

In her work, she places particular importance on knowledge and continuous professional development, combining her experience as a physician, researcher, and lecturer. She has further developed her professional expertise at Harvard Medical School, as well as through international courses and congresses in the United States, Austria, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Denmark, and elsewhere.

She applies her knowledge both in patient care and in the education of future physicians, with a particular focus on modern, case-based teaching methods.

Dr Ieva Ziediņa is the author and co-author of several scientific publications and has participated in national and international research projects. Her principal research interests include kidney transplantation, transplant rejection, the role of viral infections in nephrology, and anaemia in chronic kidney disease.

In recognition of her contribution to the development of living-donor kidney transplantation in Latvia, she received an award from the Latvian Academy of Sciences and Latvijas Gāze in 2017. She is a member of the Latvian Association of Nephrologists, the European Renal Association, the European Society for Organ Transplantation, and the American Society of Nephrology. Since 2026, Dr Ieva Ziediņa has served as a member of the European Renal Association’s governing board.
